vail weekend

we went to vail this weekend. it was so nice and relaxing. it is the peak season for the colors changing and it was gorgeous.

we went on a 3 hour bike ride. it was so fun, but i was tired.

we had to leave the dogs in denver. Niña stayed with regan's boss. but she ran away to home. ugh. luckily someone found her and called me. Lola stayed with a friend and she said lola was a perfect house guest, minus peeing on my friends bed! oops!

school starts today, so i am trying to get psyched for my 5 o'clock class. it isn't working, so far. vacation is just too fun!

9.20.2008

couple funny things

september 19th was talk like a pirate day, hope everyone participated. regan and i did, regan more than myself.

also, i cut all my hairs off. kind of.

9.17.2008

lots of changes

first off, no one stole our movie. we just got baby mama and it is cute.
we did end up going to jackson hole and had so much fun. we went on hikes and went camping and swimming and boating. it
was very relaxing and we had some good conversations.

and also we DID get the puppy i wanted. we haven't named her, so please give me ideas. i am thinking lola.

not sure if Niña likes her, we'll see.

9.08.2008

oh me oh my

it has been a busy month.
last month we went to beautiful south dakota for a wedding. it was really nice to leave for a long weekend, plus it was gorgeous, i am so mad we didn't take any pictures!
i just took a final and i have another one in a couple hours, then one tomorrow and I AM DONE for 2 1/2 weeks. yeah! at this point i don't even care about studying, i just want to be done.
after changing our minds 4 times we decided (i think) on going to jackson hole, wy for my break. we love it there and have really wonderful friends there. it won't be warm, which is slightly sad, but we are stopping at some hot springs, somewhere. i am excited.
we've been toying with the idea of buying our house and getting a new puppy, specifically a catahoula. i am not counting on either. the house is in such bad shape it would have to be dirt cheap to make it worth it and i am the ONLY one excited about a new puppy. sad.
regan did a tri last weekend. it was to raise money for the non-profit/charity of your choice. he did okay.

oh, and i put our netflix movie out in the mail and i think someone stole it.

8.08.2008

new tradition

our new tradition just arrived in the mail: Joyeux Noel.
so now, no matter where we are at christmas eve, we will watch this.

in other news. school's almost out for the fall break! ah, sigh of relief. we are planning on going to nicaragua for the two weeks. so far, it is going good. i am just so ready to be DONE! i did get see a surgery on a perianal hernia.

pretty cool. we also had our vaccine clinic and it was very empowering.

since i am boring myself i will quit now.

8.03.2008

why is it so hot?

Regan's first triathlon

so, regan ran his first tri last weekend in greeley. he did amazingly well. he got first place in his age group, 20-24 and 18th place overall out of 207 people plus, some relayers. i am so proud, he trains really hard, so it's fun to see him do so well.

here are some pictures, i documented the whole morning.

in other news, finals are this week and i am really not looking forward to them, i would rather watch newport beach, how sad is that?
oh, and i got a $4731 grant for school this year. yeah! i don't have to pay that back, right?

5.29.2008

study study run study

i swear, all i do is study. ugh. i am really sick of learning about mold and bacteria and viruses. i think someday i will be happy that i did, but right now, i am ready for my break.
regan ran a marathon relay a couple weekends ago. he did SO good. here is a great picture of him.

my mom is having a garage sale this weekend, i am excited about that. i like those things.

oh, the people yelling outside of my bedroom window just reminded me: the other day jerry (one of our homeless neighbors) invited himself to dinner. haha. it is humerus, among other things. he insisted i look him up on the internet, unfortunately he was nowhere to be found on the world wide web. then he told us his life story, including lying about his age twice and just being dramatic. Niña growled at him the whole time, that too was a bit funny. until he said he was going to shoot her, not funny then. i scolded him. it may be stereotypical, but i must say, at least about jerry, that i don't think he would be as good a homeless guy if he wasn't such a drama queen. by the way, he is homeless by choice, at least that's what he said. but there really is soooo much drama with all of the people who hang out between 38th and 37th and lipan and mariposa. anyway...jerry.

i am tired and itching to get away. regan wants to go to nicaragua this september to build a generator that runs on palm oil for a school that uses a generator that runs on diesel, but cannot afford diesel. that sounds fun. a romantic getaway for regan, myself and kirby. anyone else want to come?

5.01.2008

MAY

i am happy it is may. that means only a month and a half left of microbiology. yes!!
but, one would think may would bring sunshine, days to work in the garden, longs walks with nins in the park, or...this:

ugh, snow! and a lot of it.

3.12.2008

ugh

it is finals week, or three days or in my case, two days. anyway, i have finals. i haven't really studied either and all i want to do is stuff i shouldn't. plus, i have a killer headache and it is supposed to be 60 degrees and it's not. i just want these dumb tests to be over.
on a happier note, reg and i went to boulder on sunday to see over the rhine and bodeans, who were great. it was a taping for the radio show e town. so the bands would play a few songs and then do a little interview and then an author would come out...it was really fun.
the author was doug fine, he wrote 'farewell, my subaru'. the book sounds interesting.
also, watched brother's keeper the other night and cried a lot, bit i loved it. especially john. we also watched dan in real life and i hated it, regan did too. stupid movie.
oh yeah, my birthday is coming up , what are you going to get me?

3.07.2008

the elderly

i have been thinking about old people a lot lately. on thursday, in class, we talked about euthanasia for 2 hours, ugh. not euthanasia of the elderly, mind you, but of animals. a tiny bit depressing. but in the midst, we talked about older people losing their pets. we did an exercise where we wrote down 5 things that were important to us: regan, family, nina, friends, school. then we were asked to get rid of one: school. then our neighbor was told to get rid of one for us, my neighbor took regan, ugh. anyway, point being: sometimes, the only one left in an older persons "5" is their pet. when they lose an animal, it may have been the only thing they have. depressing. then, today it was like old people's day out. THEN regan came home and told me extremely endearing and hilarious stories of the people he is working with at the nursing home. ohmygoodness, a women tried to grab regan's privates. hahahahaha. okay, old peeps. gotta love 'em,
yay

2.24.2008

Regan

pretty days

we are anxiously awaiting spring. today we planted about 70 gladiola bulbs and we played outside for a bit.
we wanted to go climbing outside, but nobody responded to our requests.
we had another Lyme treatment. Regan got real bad last week and I was so exhausted. I feel better now and I guess we look better, on paper. we are also taking a pill called Proteka, it's got water, grain alcohol, stone root, oregon grape root, pau d' arco bark, saw palmetto berry, wintergreen leaf, L-aspartic acid, wormseed, L-glutamic acid, wahoo root bark, male fern, wormwood, oregano, yarrow flower, motherwort, birdseye pepper pod, olive leaf, black malva flower, L-lysine and the capsules have stone root, oregon grape root, pau d' arco bark, saw palmetto berry, wintergreen leaf, L-aspartic acid, wormseed, L-glutamic acid, wahoo root bark, male fern, wormwood, oregano, yarrow flower, motherwort, birdseye pepper pod, olive leaf, cellulase, black malva flower, L-lysine. whoa.
we are planning our trip to montana, but it keeps getting pushed back.
some pictures for your spring time dreaming heart.
alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5170622990411029122" />

our pretty compost pile. mmm, it smells so good.

2.11.2008

it was warm!

it was warm yesterday. and today. i am so happy. though it is supposed to get cold this weekend.
we went climbing, outside, yesterday. it was really nice to not be in a gym. it was gorgeous and so fun, we were so tired we went to bed without watching lost online. pretty crazy.
we also went for lyme therapy on saturday. we spent 4 longs hours there, but i guess we both looked a lot better. then we went to the flea market, where we basically spent 10 dollars on corn and saw a lot of crap.
then we went to the du/minnesota hockey game. ohmygoodness, it was so fun!!

2.05.2008

news

so many things going on.
first off, i am sick. it is miserable. it's not just a cold, but i think it's just a cold, if that makes sense. i was in bed all weekend and missed a class on monday and work today. ugh. i am taking a lot of hot baths with epsom salt and drinking a lot of naked juice and taking a lot of airborne. i've also been watching a lot of lost online, regan's been helping with this one!
regan's been training a ton for his race next fall. he's crazy. today he climbed and ran, yesterday he ran in a snow storm, he's been swimming. i wish i could join him, but i don't feel good and i think i would weigh him down. i am proud of him though.
he also started school on monday for his CNA. he's gotten A's on 3 quizzes.
my quarter is almost over, yay! it feels so good to get them done. i think i am going to start volunteering at DDFL . it's not my first choice, but it is so close to school and i can go in between classes. plus, it will be good experience "working" at a non-profit.
okay, on to more exciting things: we recently found out regan has Lyme Disease. it is good because now we feel like we have an answer to why he is always in so much pain and why he is always so tired. oh, and it is transmitted sexually. sweet. i was also tested and have the virus, but am asyptomatic, for now.

last but not least: a picture from school.

1.28.2008

4 weeks in

since school started i have been busy studying, but luckily i have learned the trick of time management. i have time to do fun things too. now, i am happy.
we've been climbing and bouldering a bit and that's fun. it is in a gym, but we enjoy it anyway.
we also went to the stock show rodeo last weekend, oh my goodness, it was fun. but, it was also eerily patriotic, i don't know why i didn't expect it, but it caught me off guard.

regan has also found some time to ride his bicycle. i like his spandex.

oh, but i only have 5 weeks left of this quarter, isn't that crazy?

1.03.2008

2008

to the left you will see a picture of regan at our white elephant, christmas, happy graduation party. people brought really cool things, like a bicycle helmet and a guitar and maracas from peru.
i made it through my first christmas with the in-laws. it was different, very busy. i am looking forward to a low-key christmas next year.
i cannot believe it is a new year and i start school in a couple days and i woke up at 540am to work this morning and i'm tired.
we are going snowshoeing tomorrow, hopefully up to a cabin, if the roads aren't closed.
i got a duvet cover for christmas, i was just admiring it. pretty.
it is amazing to me how exciting my life actually is.

12.16.2007

winter waitingland

i used my hot glue gun today. oh boy was it fun.
today regan and i had plans to go swimming, but his friend, brian, called and told us he has reservations at a very expensive restaurant in the foothills for tonight and couldn't make them. he said that he wanted to treat us to dinner. we excepted, regan more forwardly than i, and had a wonderful dinner from a wonderful friend at a restaurant we would have never been able to afford. so nice. i hope everyone has friends like brian.
today i feel in a state of waiting. yesterday too. i am not sure if it's bad, but i think that if one is to ever be in a state of waiting this is the best time.
i am also really cold. burr.
i miss my east coast life.
i don't like denver anymore. sometimes.

12.14.2007

merry christmas new jersey

this is crazy:
Lawmakers in the US state of New Jersey have approved a bill abolishing the death penalty.
The move would make New Jersey the first US state to abolish capital punishment since the US Supreme Court reinstated executions in 1976.
i feel like this is a huge step in the right direction. this makes me unbelievably happy. good for you peeps.

in other news:
it's supposed to get to 5 below tonight. burr. and we were going to zoo lights. maybe not anymore.

regan and i had our 1 year anniversary on tuesday. regan surprised me with tickets to disney on ice, princess wishes. it was hilarious and really fun. he didn't realize it was princess wishes until after the tickets were bought. needless to say, we both felt like princesses that night.

12.07.2007

finals!

it is now the weekend before finals week. it is very interesting to me that i never really cared about school and now...let's just say i care. i really don't have anything to worry about as far as passing my classes. my worry is in my gpa. in order to go out of state for internship we must have a certain gpa. now, i am well above it, but in 3 quarters? we'll see. oh, i am thinking about an internship at a teaching university in oregon.
i guess i should go study.

11.29.2007

it's done!

i am very excited that we finally are done with this process of conversion. we've been waiting for our stop sign tank for over 3 weeks. it feels good to drive to my *far away* school and not feel so guilty.

don't the controls look like james bond or something. this picture isn't great, so just trust me. regan put in an alarm so if either of us turn the car off with veggie on it will sound and help us to remember. it is really loud, so i think i'll remember just because i would be so embarrassed if it went off. nice touch reg.

now regan wants to tint the windows and put a decal on the back windshield that says something to the effect of "fueled by veggies". i laugh.

11.26.2007

thanksgiving pictures

i am so sad that none of the pictures of the pies turned out. but here are some of me and my crazy family.

11.24.2007

i never know what to title these things.

we just made egg nog. i am a little worried, but i think it should be okay.

on our way home from getting our egg nog supplies we stopped at a store near our house. i think it's called Tonilla. it's about 3 people who decided they wanted to open up a shop(2 blocks from our house) for independent local and national artists to sell their art. they also sell their own stuff, mostly clothes with social commentary screen printed on it. we loved the shop. they also have an art gallery and a small stage and they are wanting to open up a coffee/study space.
we liked talking to them a lot and are excited that we are so close to them.

are there any nice boys in denver that regan would like? i feel so bad for him(he would hate it if he knew i was saying that). he just doesn't have any good friends. i think it might be my fault. nobody wants to hang out with the married guy. everyone makes comments about how once you're married you never hang out, but i didn't know it was because no one wants to hang out with you anymore. it makes me more mad than anything. i know regan is so loyal to these people and they are far from worthy.

11.22.2007

thanksgiving

merry thanksgiving.
i hope everyone felt thankful today. we spent the day with my parents and a lot of our greatest friends and it was fun. we had delicious food and dessert. i baked an apple pie, a pumpkin pie and 12 mini pumpkin pies. it was really fun. i referred to martha a great deal. yum! we'll be posting pictures soon of the pretty food.
we also put up christmas lights. i am SO excited. i don't remember ever having these as a kid, so now i get to experience them. yay! they look great and it makes me so happy.
now we're going to get warm in bed and watch the illutionist. we lead an extremely exciting life.

11.21.2007

winter wonderland

it started snowing last night. we went on a hike in the snow and it was fun...

11.17.2007

people who cry at movies

we watched ground truth last night. i cried a lot.

11.15.2007

why are all my posts about niña?

niña had an allergic reaction last night to some unknown substance. her mouth is swollen and she's been vomiting a lot. here a picture, it's not too great, but you get the idea. so sad.
regan and i had a nice date last night. we had a delicious dinner and then went and saw the bourne ultimatum at the dollar theater, thank goodness for those places, huh? i really like all the bourne movies.
next week is thanksgiving. what's everyone doing?

11.11.2007

give all your things away

except for your hiking gear...

anyone want a 4 month vacation? is it already monday?

11.10.2007

bath time

i had to give nina a bath, because when we take her to the dog park she immediately gets on her back, so unlady-like. she was crazy dirty.
we went to warren miller's new film last night.
that was neat.
anyway, wanted to share cute pictures of ninners.

10.30.2007

ninners!

isn't niña the cutest in the world. oh how i love her.
regan got hurt today, so we spent the day calling doctors and getting prescriptions filled and driving around trying to get some relief for him.
i missed school today, which i am not too upset about, hopefully, my grades won't reflect a day missed. regan makes fun of me b/c i am the kid who has to sit in the front row and hates missing a day and won't settle for anything less than an a. it's kind of silly.
regan's parents bought us a tempur-pedic bed yesterday. they've been spoiling us lately.

happy halloween!

9.26.2007

at long last

oh my goodness. i'm bad at this. i'll get better once regan and i have our very own computer and internet.
we made it back safe and sound from the east and iowa. we have had two wedding parties(thank god those are over). we found jobs and started school and found a wonderful new friend named niña. she is the love of our lives. pictures are promised as soon as we enter the 21st century...

3.29.2007

philly/camden

we made it east after a couple days in iowa and a couple days in chicago. it was a long drive, 4 of us in the truck for 14 hours. we all slept pretty good the day we got in. it's been somewhat cold here, i am dreaming of warm summer weather.
we are heading to nyc(regan's never been) tomorrow. then back to iowa. and finally home...we found a house, though no jobs yet. we love our house and are excited to move in and be settled in the states.
we'll send out the address when i remember it.
new numbers:
regan 303 8888552
libby 303 8882420

3.01.2007

fun fun fun

here are some pictures of our fun times on the beach.

plus, i am adding more pictures today!

2.22.2007

friends, surf, sea lions

we are still at the beach, enjoying the mostly sunny days. our friends, who just climbed aconcagua(i tried to include a picture), sonny and bryce, are here to visit us and relax a little. it has been fun having the company. they will be leaving in a few days, though.
the boys rented surf boards yesterday, but the waves were so bad they we only in the water for about 1 hour. nobody surfed. it was really funny to watch though!
the other day we went to a port in mar del plata and saw where all of the sea lions rest. it smelled horrible. gagging horrible, but it was so fun to see them all lying around. they are so strange and interesting. and they make really funny noises. we got about 2 feet from them, guarded by a fence, because they are a bit dangerous.
we miss you all dearly.
love.

2.14.2007

you are the proud parents:

of a f250, turbo diesel, veggie oil truck.

regan has been following this truck for about 2 weeks now and has loved it since the first day he saw it on craigslist.
the truck went for auction on ebay and regan won for $2600 less than the asking price on craigslist. i will try to put pictures up here.
hopefully, we will be seeing you all soon, after we return, FOR FREE. check out vegetable oil online if you don´t know why we´ll be driving for free.

love you

2.06.2007

address number 2

the new pictures are up on shutterfly. there aren´t many, it goes so slow and the best ones aren´t up, but we make due.

also, we found out we have to be out of the apartment by the 1st of march, so no letters after the 15th of february, just to be safe.

after that we are unsure where we will be...maybe visiting some friends in buenos aires.

we are busy nursing our sunburns, but soon we´ll be back in the waves, having fun in the sun.

love

address

our address for at least 3 weeks

2.04.2007

santa clara

we made it to the beach! we got to mar del plata and julio picked us up from the bus station. we went back to his house and realized that him finding us a house for 500 pesos was wishful thinking. mar del plata is HUGE and expensive. we stayed for two days and looked for a house, but nothing came up. while we were there though, we hung out with julio and andrea and their great kids lele and baba(nicknames). they practiced their english and i my spanish. they were so great. made us dinner, let us do laundry and camp in their yard. we used their shower and internet.
we decided to move on though, about 15 km north to santa clara. it is much smaller and a bit cheaper. we spent our first day looking for places to live. and finally, by chance, we found an apartment 3 blocks from the beach. it is small, but nice and from the back balcony we can see the ocean!!
the next day we spent on the beach. now we are both red. regan more than i. plus, he is a little sick:( so we are taking a break from the fun in the sun and seeing a movie today.
miss you love you
oh, and we have an address, but i forgot to bring it. keep your eyes out and write your letters.

1.30.2007

cabanas del arroyo

we went to the beach, for a day. it was really nice and warm and we swam...the water was absolutely disgusting, so we didnt stay long, but it was fun watching all of the little kids run around. regan happened to leave his bathing suit in bariloche, so he hung out at the beach in his underwear. if you dont know regan he wears bikini style underwear and let me tell you it is a sight to see. everyone on the beach was laughing and pointing and whistling, it was then i realized that my life would be like this now, everyone whistling at my husband. sweet.
we left the beach to pick up the things we left in esquel and bariloche. we arrived in bariloche and called the cabanas that we had stayed in before. they were full, but felt bad so they let us stay in their house, free, as a gift. we hung out with our friend seth and now are heading back to the beach, mar del plata.
the man at the cabanas knows someone who builds houses there and he said he could find us a house for about 500 pesos a month and regan a job. he is going to pick us up from the bus station. we feel pretty stoked and excited.
hopefully, we will have a phone and we will give the info asap.
misses and loves.

goodbye patagonia

well, 10 days ago we were in el calafate, since we´ve left the country and come back...
first, el calafate was a great city. we loved it. not too expensive and some good crepes. the artesanal markets were so fun and the weather wasn´t too bad. plus, the place we camped had really nice bathrooms, that´s always a good thing.
we stayed for about 3 days, visiting glacier perito moreno(pictured below). it was incredible. so huge and gorgious. it´s about 14 kilometers long! i wish i could desribe it better, but the picture will have to do. pieces kept falling off too and it make the biggest noise. it was really fun.
the next morning we left for puerto natales, chile. upon arrival we were bombarded with people we were trying to sell there hostel. it was so funny to me.
regan, decided to treat me to an actual room, with a bathroom. oh, it was so nice to not camp!
the next morning we heading back into patagonia, chile side, to torres del paine(towers of pain: sounds fun, huh?) national park. we too a boat to the first refugio. it was so fun. the water stared out this sea foamy green and then turned a dark blue, it was amazing. there were glaciers and waterfalls and huge mountains that seriously looked like nothing i have ever seen!
we arrived at about 7 and headed into the park, hiked along a beautiful lake, towards another incredible glacier and camped by a HUGE waterfall. the next day we hiked to the next refugio which left a bit to be desired so we hiked back to the first refugio and on to another campsite.
we ended up sleeping in the next day, oops, until about 11 and then from about 12 to 6. i think we were tired. with a ´wasted´ day we hiked to the next refugio, which was farther than we thought. it rained on us and i lost my hat. we were pretty unhappy. the rain didn´t let up for 2 days, so we sat in the tent and were sad. but then, the clouds lifted and we saw hints of sunshine, excited we hiked to the next campsite, only an hour away and then we hiked to the torres del paine lookout. wow. torres del paine are three huge peaks the jut out of nowhere, there is still a bit of glacier which empties into a beautiful lake at the base. it is so pretty and we had sunshine for about an hour before the clouds rolled in, but no rain!
the next day we hiked back down to town, which we allotted 6 hours for and it took 2. so we sat around for awhile until our bus came. we got back to town and went back to our hostel(yes!) and then headed to the beach. we are still on our way, with one more bus that leaves in about 1 1/2 hours(hopefully).
real quick though. i need to say something about the food here. a typical day: breakfast: orange tang, coffee or tea, bread, some bread and some bread. mmm- lunch: milanesa(breaded meat) on a sandwich with lettuce maybe and tang- dinner: steak with water or beer. no sides, no veggies, no eggs, so weird. we are ready for some good food.
the other day we went to a restaurant and thought we would share a steak and salad. the steak was tiny and the salad was tomatoes and some onions. just tomatoes. okay.

love you miss you

1.16.2007

calafate

well. about 13 days ago we left for el chalten. we were hitch hiking and got picked up the first night, by a truck driver named jose. jose was kind of strange, a little moody. but he drove us half way there in about 10 hours. sweet. he left us in perito moreno. worst town ever. we sat on the side of the road, in front of a military academy, for 3 days! a couple people stopped. one just wanting directions. thankfully, regan finally gave in and we got a bus to el chalten. the next day we went into the moutains and began a6 day hike, mostly in the rain and cold. the first and second night we stayed at a lake below a hige glacier. once the fog lifted we could see the mountains above the glaciers and it was good. the next day we hiked for 4 hours, in crazy wind, to campamento poincenot. it was a really pretty hike, but somewhat miserable. then we went to the last campsite. it was a long and tiring hike, but well worth it. that night the clouds lifted and we had sun for the next 3 days!!! the morning after the clouds lifted we hiked to the base of mount fitz roy. there really aren´t words to express the beauty we saw and our pictures won´t do justice. we were awe struck, speechless. all around us were massive glaciers, mountains, lakes. it blew us away.
we reluctantly, hiked back to town the next two days, one of the days hiking a total of 12 hours! we left el chalten as soon as we could, as it was so expensive.
now we are in calafate. a bit of a break from trekking. we leave for chile in a few days and then hopefully, off to the beach! it´s been too cold in the mountains for me.
love you miss you.

el chelten

so much has happened since i last wrote, it seems impossible.
first we discovered that some money we put into my account from regan´s didn´t go through, but we had been spending it! we were dirt broke for a while, luckily it´s all worked out now, but for awhile we were a little scared.
then, yesterday, yesterday we tied her up outside the grocery and came out to find her gone. we looked everywhere and asked everyone. no one had seen anything. after about 30 minutes we decided she was probably long gone, so we went to get a remise home. regan asked if anyone had heard or seen anything...right then one of the drivers pulled up and said that he had just taken someone home with a little puppy. he took us way up the mountain, to an area that is nothing like the rest of town. he stopped at a house and sure enough there was the little girl.
she has worms too. so we got her some medicine and she´s been pooping them out for a day. mmm.
we are headed to el chelten next. it is about a 3 day journey.
hope you are well. miss you love you.

merry christmas

regan and i were just talking about how it´s so strange that there is so much preparation for christmas day and it is over in 24 hours. i hope your 24 hours were wonderful.
since everything was closed here, we hung out in the cabin watching movies, eating food, playing with our new puppy, milagros, having a water fight. it was great, but not like christmas.
we are heading up to the mountains again today. we´ll probably be gone for about 5 days. we are going to los alerces, which is supposed to be one the highlights here. i am excited, except that it is rainy and i just want to lay in bed...
late last night we were cooking for the week . while we were waiting for the water to boil i was finishing off the stuffing that we made for christmas. i was eating out of a huge pot, meanwhile regan was on the kitchen floor doing push-ups. haaa. i thought that was a pretty good description of us, me eating, regan working out.
oh, and our puppy. while we were in el bolson we stopped at a feria. someone had dropped off a box of about5 puppies. regan begged for one and i said it was a bad idea. but we decided the puppy would die in the park, so we took one in hopes to find a home for her. now, regan is up at least once a night taking mila out to pee. she´s sweet and ornery. the ve t sai she was some sort of a german shepherd mut. maybe you all will get to meet her in 5 months!
i finally talked regan into getting a website for our pictures. we are having a hard time getting the pictures from the camera to the computer. it is so slow, but we hae about 30 pictures posted. the website url is: libbyandregan.shutterfly.com
enjoy.
love you all

hielo azul

we just returned to el bolson from 4 days of camping, hiking, laughing. we went with two friends we met here and it was so nice. it was nice to see someone elses face other than regan´s.
it rained the first day, we arrived at the refugio soaking wet. we decided to warm by the fire for another day, but when we left the next day it was snowing. it was actually quite magical...walking in the forest, watching the snow, it reminded me of being a kid.
the next refugio was beautiful. they had a garden and sheep and horses. it was so fun. about 10 minutes from the refugio on the hike there is a huge canyon, with a raging river of the most amazing blue water. i wish i could explain this water to you. oh, it was incredible.
not sure where to next. we are probably going to celebrate christmas with our new friends, somewhere.
hope the holidays are wonderfully celebratory for you.
miss you love you

el bolson

i don´t even remember three days ago when i posted last.
we have been in el bolson for three days and have one more night. we are staying in the woods in a cute little house that holds about 8 people. we are just about full to capacity right now. it is cold and wet, but it is beatiful. it snowed in the mountains last night. what happened to summer? tomorrow we leave for another hike, we will be gone for about 4 days and then back to spend christmas, hopefully by some phones so we can at least talk to the fam.
regan lost his atm card, through that we´ve realized that we have a lot less money than we assumed. so now starts our budget. this means no more ice cream and lots more camping. we are also hoping to find a farm soon...
stop reading my blog entries and come and visit.
love to you all.

12.13.2006

laguna ilon

we just got back from national park trenador. we hiked up to (basically) the base of an incredible glacier. it was huge and fell continuously so it sounded like thunder. the hike wasn´t horrible, but we couldn´t tell where the refugio was until we were right up to it. we kept thinking, "how long is this hike?" it was pretty funny when we saw the refugio.
we stayed up there for a night and then hiked down to do another hike to a lake, but we got miserably lost. we ended up on these narrow horse trails, muddy and exhausted. the nest day we tried again and it was well worth it. we hiked up to laguna ilon. it was so beautiful. we camped on the beach, jumped into the freezing water(regan was scared to), made a raft, killed a lot of deer flies.
the hike up to laguna ilon was intense the first part was straight up a mountain. no switchbacks. but halfway through the hike we got to a forest. it was so pretty. and peaceful. the funny thing was in orfer to find the trail we had to follow this group who had a guide(there were no signs marking the trail at all). once the trail was easy to follow, about every 20m there was a sign. ha, thanks.
now we are back in bariloche, staying at a friends house. we are going to eat tacos tonight and have a nintendo competition. sweet.
love to you all.

12.06.2006

6 days later

i cannot believe it is already december! no white christmas for us unfortnately.
we just got home from a 2 day hike-turned to a 5 day hike. it was incredible. we hiked through a beautiful forest with a raging river, that i almost fell into. there were gorgeous waterfalls, pretty little birds, amazing sunrises. it was by far the prettiest and sketchiest hikes i´ve been on. we spent two full days on the beautiful lago negra, i just can´t explain the beauty.
i wish i could recap all of the hilarious things that happened, but that would mean i would have to bring a tape recorder. i do have one funny story, but it is a little gross, so brace yourself.
the last hike we did, we had stopped at the second refugio, jakob. regan had been there about a week earlier, when the bathrooms weren´t in service. this was fine for me, i didn´t even think they would have bathrooms!
we had just finished lunch and i had to go to the bathroom SO bad. it was an emergency. i coulsn´t even wait to clean up! i ran to the nearest rock, i couldn´t even make it far enough to get away from people who would be weird enough to want to see me poo(i don´t think anyone did). i was just about to finish and regan comes running out of the refugio, laughing. he sees me and the amount that i pooed and loses it even more. through his laughs and tears he tells me the bathrooms are working. ha, funny. he had been talking to the man who worked there and the man said the bathrooms were working, all regan said was shoot and ran out of there. everyone was laughing. hahahaha, so funny.
love you all.

12.01.2006

off again

we are about bored in town now, so we are off the mountains tomorrow morning.
i am not sure where to, regan takes charge of that, surprised? but, i think we will only be gone for about two days this time.
there aren't any exciting stories yet...we've literally been sitting around.
we went climbing two days ago. it was pretty easy, regan wouldn't let me do any of the hard ones, but i learned alot.
the man who owns the bungalows we are staying at let us use his dirt bike to get around town, that has been so nice...regan loves it.
i promise more stories soon, and pictures!
all of my loves and misses

11.28.2006

...and we're engaged

i cannot even remember what i wrote last time, but we are in bariloche right now. it is absolutely beautiful. we've been taking it ridiculously easy because we just got back from an intense 4 day hike. it was fantastic, not only because regan asked me to marry him(i said yes). we hiked up snowy mountains and through raging waters and rocky peaks. it was probably a really good metaphor for marriage.
we have really seen god in the past few weeks. it truly amazes me how god keeps showing up even though i fail to show up.
we are still discussing when we will get married, but i assure you that we will inform everyone as soon as we know.
we love you all and really appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

nuestros viaje

I have to tell everyone this great story:

yesterday when Regan and I arrived in Mendoza we called a the son of my mothers coworker. We asked if we could stay with him, as unopposing as possibly. He works for some oil thing and was leaving town last night, but felt so bad that he could not accomodate us that he paid for three nights in a hostel for us. yay! He picked us up from the bus station and took us to the hostel. It was a great example of hospitality.
Tomorrow we are going climbing with a man from here, Monday we are going on a bicycle tour of the vineyards...then to Bariloche.
loves and misses.

Mendoza

We surrived a freezing, 14 hour bus trip last night to mendoza. Now we are here and trying to find a place to lay our heads.
love you all.

11.15.2006

argentina

i am sure you can assume that i made it safely to buenos aires.
as we were descending into the city, i felt a strange calm and peace. it felt like all of a sudden god had really given me a heart for this, more than just excitement to be with regan.
anyway, things are good, not a ton to report yet. it just feels good to be here.

love to you all.

13 days

i am just about at 13 days until i see regan, 12 days until i leave.
i just got back into denver from philly/camden. oh my goodness. it was so nice to be there, with everyone. it really just felt good to be among friends, in the city of brotherly love again. i did so many fun things.
ate lots of yummy food at my old favorite restaurants and some new ones, walked on the beach, had really good girl talk, hung out with cutey-cuter kindergartners. i laughed ALOT, watched a lifetime movie(why i wore lipstick to my mastectomy), went to a wedding, and i laughed some more.
oh, it was so fun. thank you to everyone who made me remember my home in philly/camden. i love you all so, so much.

oh and happy halloween.

matter: land

"Many monogamous relationships split up because one or both partners expect the other to meet the intimacy needs that only a love affair with a larger Reality can fulfill. They think something is wrong with the relationship when, in reality, Nature has programmed all relationships to fail whenever we absurdly demand that they provide us with total satisfaction. Experiencing cracks in even the most fulfilling of human relationships appears to be the only way that the universe can get us to open oursleves to the possiblity of a larger love affair. Unfortunately, many in our time never learn this lesson. When problems arise within the primary relationship, we look for another human being as a replacement, rather than seek a deeper relationship with the greater Whole. " -An Erotics if Place by Stephen Hatch

"It's not about stripping down for others to see. It's simply a way to experience a moment within your fullest capabilities. It's about embracing your spirit and your body and taking that acceptance one step further in order to get to where we belong--in the environment, not separated from it...nothing can compare to being outside and being naked. All the senses are heightened, and I mean all of them. Every movement and function and circumstance is raw, and you are aware of each one specifically. " -Exposure by Laura Katers

jebbers

jeb and ellie have been sick the past few days. this means a couple things. one) they both sleep the majority of the day. two) they are both lovey dovey, clingy, huggy, affectionate.

though i get bored, i love both of these things. is that a bad sign? anyway, today at least three times jeb looked at me like his world was ending and put his pudgy little arms up to be held. i scooped him up and held him, rocked him, rubbed his back. we sang. we sang the new weepies song. it was absolutely precious. those hugs were exactly what i needed today.

maybe people need to be scooped up more and loved on? maybe.

the least of these

i looked at jesus the other day and denied him. looked him right in the face; denied him, to his face.
i would like to confess and repent.

9.30.2006

blood, sweat, and tears

i had the craziest bloody nose today. ohmygoodness, it just bled and bled. crazy.

then, yesterday i cried and cried. oh so sad, actually the weird thing was i wasn't sad. i am on this birth control for a menstration regulator and it is seriously screwing up my hormones. so, i cried and cried and i called in crying to work.

this is my sweet life. sweet.

9.18.2006

another way

i am sitting in my room, reading. i am listening to music, loud, because my housemates are listening to even louder music that i think is awful.
i am reading and i am thinking and i am getting visions and i am getting scared.
do we really ever stop to think about what jesus meant when he said sell your things and join the poor. whatever you do to the least you do to me. love your neighbor as yourself. ?
i don't think i ever stop and think about these things, because if i did i would be alot more scared alot more of the time.
my heart is changing too and i am real scared.

i am excited too.

9.12.2006

400 dollars later

yes, you guessed it. all of these preparations have forced me to spend 400 dollars yesterday. whoa, i am still a little anxious.

i wish everything in my life wasn't surrounding my departure, but alas it is.
and, i am getting REALLY excited. and also, this morning, when jebbers awoke, he said to me, "regan?". or maybe he asked to me. in either case. so cute. oh, and sad.

love.

9.08.2006

66 days

i have concluded that this blog is really for me and josh(hi josh, how are you?) and that is okay.
i am leaving in 66 days and i am excited. really. and i am terrified. i am overwhelmed at how happy i am to be seeing regan in 9.5 weeks. wow! it makes me feel peaceful. it is weird, but i like it.
i only have 7 more weekends to work at Marczyck's. yay! this is crazy. is this crazy?
there is so much i need to do.
1)get all of my hiking/camping gear
2)purchase ticket(i have one holding that is 874$)
3)get my cell phone stuff in order
4)learn spanish
5)figure out all of my loan stuff
6)make some serious money
7)et cetera

stressed and a little anxious.
hmmm.

8.24.2006

sad day

i have been real down lately, why? i am realizing how long regan is going to be gone and it hurts a lot.
i started my second, second job yesterday. it was alright. work is work, yes? i am trying so hard to keep a positive attitude about it. it will be so nice to send that money to my loans and not have to worry about it while i am gone. i just don't really like working in a setting where i need to be attentive to customers. is that bad?
you know that feeling where your eyelids feel heavy and burn a little? the tears are right around the corner, literally. that is how i feel.
thankfully, i have counseling next week, after a long maternity leave. i think i may just cry the whole time, that might not be bad.
love.

8.19.2006

cumpleaños felices

IT IS MY HALF BIRTHDAY TODAY.
i was trying to say "it's your half birthday" in spanish today and kristy said, 'isn't your half birthday coming up?' why yes, in fact it is today. how weird and fun!
happy birthday to me.

8.18.2006

bees and sore bodies

well, just one body and one bee, maybe even a wasp! i worked at my parents house today doing their landscaping(i use the term landscaping loosely). my body hurts so bad now AND i got stung by a bee! on my face! ohmygosh.
does anybody know how to find an ACCURATE map of the world on the internet? or does any know about time zones?
send me get well presents.
love.

8.11.2006

did you know?

The distance between Denver, CO and Buenos Aires, Argentina is 5938.0 miles(9556.0 km).

whoa, talk about long distance. so sad.

8.10.2006

who have i become?

i sent my first text message today. it felt weird and somewhat liberating. i got home from a normal dinner at my parents(for the record, normal for us is not normal for most people) and looked at my phone. it said i had two messages. this was weird because my friend, alicia, had sent me a message earlier. the messages were both from this strange long number, so without even looking at the message i deleted it. then i realized it was a number from argentina. ha. i got the second one: short, but sweet and decided, why not. i am going to send my first ever text message. how much do you think that costs to send one to argentina? anyway, it was well worth it. oddly enough, afterward i had an urge to call regan(he got a cell phone, so i can call when ever i want). i asked what the other message was and it was to call him. coincidence. probably. anyway, our conversation was short. he is on a bus ride, as i type, to the iguazu falls, one of the wonders of the worlds. how many are there?
what is the criteria to be a wonder of the world?
do you think less of me?

this is a picture of the lovely regan and me at the des moines airport. i miss him A LOT.

7.31.2006

last time i checked i was as unstable as a chair with three legs

it is funny to me that the minute you feel god move in some way is the very minute you become unstable. the minute you feel peace is the very minute you begin to doubt. and then the minute you need professional help is the very minute your counselor goes on maternity leave. huh.
my sister spent the day in the emergency room. i hate that in general, of course, but moreso because i cannot be there for her. i cannot cook her soup and read her stories. i cannot go with her to the doctor tomorrow. it may be the worst feeling ever.
that is all i have.

7.24.2006

6 months

does anyone read this? i do, i guess.
it has been an amazing 6 months, that may be why i have been so quiet. just no time. that and no computer. this is what has happened:
i moved to denver, into a beautiful house. i am still nannying and liking it somewhat.
i have met some wonderful people since moving to denver. surprisingly enough. one of whom, the most notable, is regan foster. we met in mid january and have inseparable ever since. well, until now. he just moved to argentina for a year. so sad. but don't worry. i am moving down there too! most likely in december, if all goes according to plan. i am really excited to experience a new culture by living in it. and i am really excited to see regan.
i get accepted to the best vet tech school in the country.
i am sure there are other things, but i need to clean my living quarters.
love.

1.03.2006

city of brotherly love

i am here and it is my last day. i feel excited and terrified. i feel a little ready and a little not. it has been a good trip, though. i feel loved and missed and that if i do decide to come back i will have a home.
my heart feels happy.
it is blistery outside and i love it. the trees are bare, but lively. hopeful. i will drive from this city this very night. and i will lose a little of myself when i do. but i must leave in order to come back.

feel the warmth of you and yours this season. while the cold air may seem relentless find somebody who needs love and love them fully.

12.17.2005

pink and smelly

has anyone ever felt erased? it is a weird feeling and devastatingly lonely. your name is gone, your pictures. hopefully not your memory, but you cannot really be sure who is holding on to that, if anyone is. i beg that someone will. just don't forget me, not yet, not until i can fix things.
i got a house. for those of you who know the area, it is on 20th and emerson. it is a fantastic neighborhood. apparently, the house is incredible. oh, i haven't seen it. am i crazy? don't worry, i will be holding a house-warming party and of course, you will be invited. i am excited and a little nervous. i will be living with one of my oldest and greatest friends, one of his friends and someone else that no one really knows. i can't wait!
i also got a job nannying. yay! this kid, jeb, is so cute. it makes me feel maternal. don't worry.
AND i am taking a trip out east and wouldn't mind riders. so far i have one for sure. i am very excited for this, i miss my sis terribly and i miss philadelphia. i miss the neighborhoods and the trees and the bicycles and the friends. that one i miss the most.
this weekend has been so dramatic. honestly, i am usually a drama free person, but my god, it's one thing after another these days. okay, actually, just last night and today. whoa.
though i fail miserably i am trying, please, you should also try.

oh yeah, and i miss the philadelphia art museum.

cranky is a friend of mine

thanksgiving is over. but there is a ton of food in my fridge and although it was all really good to begin with, none of it is appealling to me now.
surprisingly enough, i had a really nice holiday. thanksgiving happens to be my least favorite of all the days we remember, celebrate, party. my parents are real big on inviting everyone we know who doesn't have a place to go. so, jeff, dinah and dell all came over for some football(weird) and food and of course, good company. it was nice.
unfortunately, the holiday didn't bring me any clarity. if anything it brought me more confusion. i seem to be running back and forth between, at least, two things. so, not only am i still perplexed, but i am tired from all that running. i need a long nap and some enlightenment.
don't be strangers.
love.

11.11.2005

working woman

i've officially been off the farm for 9 days. whoa. that sounds a lot longer than it feels.
i found a job(yay!) and so far, i like it. it isn't my dream job and i don't make great money, but i am learning a lot and meeting some people my age.
the move was way harder than i thought it would be, i am still working through that. those of you on the east coast may see me sooner than you thought(don't hold your breath, though). i know i owe a lot of you letters and i have some that i need to send out. give me some time and some understanding.
please, be gentle with each other.

love.

11.02.2005

done as a doornail

my last day on the farm was monday. it is both exciting and terrifying.
i am scared about entering the real world: work, transportation, friends. all of which i have none as of yet.
to be honest, i wonder if staying in denver was a bad choice. though, while making the choice i didn't think there could be a right or wrong. maybe i was wrong, there is a first time for everything.
so far i have no concrete job(depressing) or transportation(i left my bike in loveland: also depressing), or many friends(except buster). sweet.
so, i am a little depressed. please, send me your love!! your prayers and thoughts are also greatly, greatly appreciated.

futuristic futures

it's my day off and, although it is a nice break, i kind of would like to be filling my time with something other than sitting in an empty room, spending time on the internet.
it's been a long month and in this moment i am excited for this internship to be over. i am learning a lot really appreciate the opportunity, i love the people i've met and where i live, but i feel ready for my next move. who knows what that will be. any ideas?

i miss you all and am excited to see you soon.

lawn mower

i just mowed a lawn for the first time in my life. yay. i was really awesome. trust me.

also, i went to market for the first time. whoa, a lot of firsts. it was really fun. we traded veggies for popcorn, bread and cheese. mmmm. i almost wish i could go to market every week.

the cows are officially moving on sunday. i am both happy and sad. happy because alicia and i are tired of doing all the milking by ourselves. sad because they are my girls. i will miss them immensely. as bratty as they are, they are so sweet.

not much else going on. i am happy, most of the time.

the greatest gift in life is love.

6.07.2005

friends

we've had two overnight kids groups this week. that's where young kids come up for three days...it's been fun and overwhelming. it's nice to not have to be responsible for any children.

we also sheared a couple of sheep today. we had to wrestle the sheep to the ground, it was very intense and funny. it reminded me somewhat of ninja fighting.

thankfully, my day off is tomorrow. yay! i am spending the night at my parents, which is a nice treat. i cannot wait to go to bed, wake up late, take a bath, make cookies, go out to lunch with mom, see dad at work...i know, pretty exciting. well, i am excited anyway.

remember to be loving as the day is long.

5.22.2005

daddy's gone

a few days ago we harvested our bull, tony and another one of our cows, herfy. it was kind of an intense day. it all started at 6am, when we woke up to harvest some veggies. i left at 7 to go pick up some donuts, mmm. came back to tom, the butcher. he harvested tony first, i didn't watch. but i did see the beginnings of his head being cut off. it was pretty intense. then i went in to finish making breakfast and i cut my finger. it wasn't too bad, but i lost a good amount of blood and almost fainted. don't worry i am fine now.
so, after i recovered from my injury and finished b. fast, i watched the harvesting of herfy. i have never experienced anything like that. he was visibly scared, he knew something was wrong. tom is really good at what he does and shot herfy between the eyes, about an inch up. the second the bullet hit him he was down. boom. it was surprisingly loud. then for about 7 seconds, while the energy left his body, he shook. it was a dramatic experience. one that i am glad i had.
i am in fort collins this afternoon, having fun with my roommate. we are going to the co-op now to get rice dream bars. mmmm.
i wish you were here.

new beginnings

i don't know about you, but the weather here is beautiful. i got a little sunburned yesterday, but today i was religous about putting on some sunscreen. it's so sunny and a little breezy every once in a while.
our first share pick up is one friday. for those of you who don't know, we are a csa(community supported agriculture). look around in your area and be a part of one. they are great and keep small farms afloat. anyway, we've been busy weeding and planting and weeding a little more. it's been fun though. i remember being in my mom's garden back in the day and hating weeding, but it isn't so bad. especially if we sing songs.
i guess not a lot is happening here. we've been super busy and are only going to get busier.

send me your prayers and maybe some money.

i love you all and hope i can be better at it.
